PBW for Rent

Among the many fine auction items to benefit Larissa Ione, there's now a manuscript critique by me available for bid.

Why should you spend your hard-earned dollars to rent me? Well, Larissa genuinely needs the assistance, and helping out another writer is kind of our motto around here. As for my qualifications, I've published a few things here and there, and not to be conceited or anything, but I believe I can offer you a pretty decent crit.

Plus if your critted work is published, I get to lord it over all the other authors. They really hate that, too.

To sweeten the deal, I will send the winning bidder a Windows or Mac-compatible copy of my favorite writing software, Thinkmap's Visual Thesaurus.

So, what are you waiting for? Go, bid.

  1. Is there a deadline for this crit? I mean, if I get it, can you do ti right away? or Are you stuck on a deadline?

I can do it right away, no problem. Well, unless I'm hit by a truck, struck by lightning, sucked into a wormhole, etc....in which case I'm sure they'll give you a full refund.

  3. I'm sure it's going to go for a zillion dollars, which is good. I'll bid early so that I can feel like I was in the running, at least for a while. :)

I just wanted to say that that Visual Thesaurus is one of the coolest pieces of software I've ever seen. Thanks.

Hey, that's the second piece of software recommended by you that I've gotten interested in. I do all my writing with RoughDraft (great program!) now.

I may make an ebay account and bid!

  5. Will you throw in a back cover endorsement if I get it published? (Published for real, naturally -- not vanity.)

You guys aren't going to let me get away cheap, are you? Lol. I would say yes, but my conscience won't let me give away an endorsement like that.

However, if the winner's critted ms. makes it to publication (publication as used here defined as the author signs a contract and is paid a reasonable advance by the publisher) I'll be happy to read the final product and consider it for an endorsement.

  7. I wish I could bid, but with our income having gone from $0 to the pittance of unemployment we qualify for, I'll just wish all of you the best of luck. Don't get me wrong. That pittance will buy groceries, stretch our savings and keep us off food stamps, hopefully for long enough to find decent work. Anyway, the best of luck to all of you bidding. :)

The auction is for a partial critique, specifically 30 manuscript pages and a 5 page synopsis (this is spelled out in the body of the eBay listing.) No wordcount limit, just the page limit -- and speaking for my auction, if you need to go over a couple of pages for it to make sense, I have no problem with that.

As far as what you'd give me if you win the auction, I'm willing to look at anything. I think I'd be of the most help with a partial on a novel, since that's what I write and sell the most.
