Returned & Learned

Back, with batteries recharged, lots of info and feedback gathered, and some new ideas forming. Got an interesting job offer, too; should I decide to quit the biz I will definitely not starve. The character card as business card was a big hit, as were the free books I handed out. Plus I got to not be a writer for a couple of days, and much fun was had by all.

To the lovely and talented Diane, with whom I didn't get to talk as much as I would have liked, thank you for the beautiful hand-dyed silks. I'm always delighted to see your work. And I promise, I won't use vinegar as a neutralizer any more. :)

A more complete report is in the works. In the meantime, for those of you who like looking at beautiful quilts made by very talented hands, I took lots of photos at the show, which I uploaded here.

My favorite quilt from the show:

  2. I love quilts, and quilting so much. One day I might have more time to actually QUILT. They're like my first attempts at books, I have three started and none finished except minis. :-)

Thank you for the eye candy.

  3. You have beautiful quilts. I would love to start quilting, but I would never have time to do anything else. I fear I would be making quilts for everyone I knew.

  4. Welcome back, :)

Quilting is something I've always wanted to have a go at, at least once. And I've got locked into the idea of doing English paper piecing, because I have a vague memory from childhood of this being demonstrated on Blue Peter. (UK children's programme that's been running forever).

I started to do something about it last year - got templates, needles, material. But that's as far as I've got.

  6. Gorgeous quilt, and I'm glad you had a good time!

I'm working on my first quilt, and it is very obviously discernable as a first quilt, but I don't care. I'm having fun. I force myself to only work on it when I'm feeling leisurely as a way to relax. :)

  7. That is a lovely quilt :).

My sister and one of my aunts are into quilting--I have a gorgeous quilt my aunt made for me--but somehow I've never gone for it.

Plus, there's nowhere in this house safe from the cat...despite being put "in a safe place", the quilt needs the cat hair washing off it AGAIN. And it's too big for the dryer. Meh.
